Tennis Assistant, Nzingha Banks, is an all-round sports enthusiast with a special passion for tennis.  With more than 11 years training in martial arts, she is the holder of a first (1st) Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.  A past track and field runner, she has played school netball and football and is a member of the “Spikas” Volleyball Team.

Nzingha has been member of the Anguilla Tennis Academy (ATA) for the past thirteen (13) years and has been part of the ATA After-School Programme and Advanced Tournament Group for the past eight (8) years.  She has also been a Participant in the ATA Summer Camps since the beginning.  This ATA Coach Trainee began working as a Tennis Assistant/Hitting Partner with the ATA this October and she is thoroughly excited about her new post, because as she says, her love for tennis, has now given her an opportunity to play more than enough!

The well-balanced Nzingha recently graduated from the ALHCS Sixth-Form Programme with her CAPE Certified Associates Degree in Computer Science and a CXC Certified Associates in Business Studies.  She was Class Valedictorian in Primary School, an Honour Roll student throughout High School, and was the recipient of special awards for English, Music and Applied Mathematics.

Nzingha credits the ATA with helping to hone her leadership skills.  With a keen interest in the positive development of youth, this dedicated young Anguillian athlete is also involved in a number of extra curricula programmes and activities.  For the past nine years she has been part of “Camp Be Aware” (an Environmental Awareness Camp) and has been working as Co-Camp Director and Assistant Swimming Teacher for the past five years. As immediate Past President of her High School’s Debating Club, she currently serves as an Advisor to the group.  She also holds the post of Vice President of the Anguilla National Youth Council and is an active member of the Ebenezer Youth Fellowship and Youth Choir.

Nzingha is currently involved in an intensive training programme, working closely with the experienced coaches in pursuit of a tennis scholarship for Fall 2012.  Her dream is to be able to play for a University team whilst pursuing a degree involving computers, business and marketing.

Outgoing and ambitious, Nzingha is very optimistic about her future. She loves travelling, singing and board games and enjoys a good laugh! She is also responsible for the ATA’s Facebook page and her goal is to promote the ATA to the Facebook nation as much as possible.
