Hailing from the beautiful twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Rodney joined the ATA with 10 years of experience as tennis professional. Rodney stands at 6 feet 5 inches he has an explosive serve and has both a powerful forehand and backhand. Rodney is an ITF Level 1 certified coach. Prior to joining the ATA Rodney was the head Professional at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad. He has worked as a national coach in Trinidad and Tobago for five years. He worked with the top junior players in the under 14 and under 18 categories. Rodney was a traveling coach with the Trinidad and Tobago tennis federation. He has worked with both adults and juniors of all levels including ranked players. As a traveling coach he has traveled to countries such as Argentina, USA, US Virgin Islands, Panama, Guadeloupe, Suriname, Puerto Rico and St Maarten.
Rodney started coaching at the age of 14 at the AMOCO Oil Company Sport and Cultural Club. He holds certificates in Science of Sports and Coaching and Technical course for coaches form the IOC, and level 1 tennis umpiring and a diploma in tennis coaching from the Argentina Tennis Association.
As a junior tennis player Rodney was one of the top players in Trinidad and Tobago and won numerous tournaments along with his bother Ryan Ross who is currently attending Tuskegee University where he assisted the university team in attaining the collage tennis championship for two consecutive years.
Rodney is a very hard working individual who is very passionate about his coaching career and loves working with people. He is perusing a professional One Certification with the U.S Professional Tennis Association for the summer 08 which is the United States of America Tennis Association Teaching Pro qualification. US. Rodney was educated in Trinidad and Tobago where he attended the Mayaro Government Primary school, Mayaro Composite High School and the Sangre Grande Educational Institution where he obtained full certificate in his studies.
Rodney’s goal is to further develop the popularity of the spot of tennis on Anguilla and to assist in improving the players on the island. Rodney is also constantly working on his personal self improvement on and off the tennis courts.
