Here at the Anguilla Tennis Academy, we have implemented a Strength and Conditioning program into the overall program for the Advanced Group of Players and Coaches.  This program will focus on the physical preparation of our athletes for peak sports performance.  Besides practicing on tennis skills, a strength and conditioning program is the most important element of training for any athlete to excel to the next level.  The student athletes and coaches have each been through a specialized exercise program, which will enhance their ability in each of the following areas

·         Develop Core Stability

·         Increase Speed

·         Increase Agility

·         Increase Muscular Strength, Endurance and Power

·         Decrease the Risk of Injury

      ·         Increase Balance and Stability

On a different note, this program will promote healthy habits that will follow them for a lifetime.  As we all know, obesity is a growing epidemic in today’s society.  The coaches and student athletes will learn valuable techniques about strength training and cardiorespiratory fitness, which are the most essential components to a healthy lifestyle along with a healthy diet.  Continuous exercise promotes:

·         Strong Bones

·         Healthy Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Levels

·         Boost Metabolism

·         Maintains a Healthy Body Weight

·         Improves Confidence

                       LorenHunte.jpg

Loren Hunte is a Senior at Kennesaw State University (KSU) in Kennesaw, Georgia, majoring in Exercise and Health Science.  She has been very active in sports since a young age,    playing basketball and track.  As an adult, she has participated in sports and activities such as, rock climbing, white water rafting and volleyball.  Exercise, Fitness and Strength and Conditioning are major components in her life and what interests her most.  In Georgia, she created her own personal training and boot camp business called PYS Fitness, where she trained clients in their home, at local parks or at the track at local high schools.  Loren is extremely passionate and takes pleasure in training athletes but she especially enjoys training children.  She would love to assist any child who has the same passion for sports and fitness as she does, excel to the next level and be the best athlete they can be. She is very ambitious, energetic, honest and always wears a smile.

Loren is here at the ATA as an intern and aiding in the developmentof a Strength and Conditioning Program. The Exercise and Health Science major at KSU is a unique contemporary degree that merges the knowledge and skills of the Exercise Science field with that of Health Promotion.  Using this broad-based training approach, graduates will understand the scientific basis of exercise/fitness along with the strategies used to design and implement comprehensive health programs for the public and private sectors.  Within Exercise and Health Science, students can select one of two capstones: 1) Internship Experience or 2) Pre-Professional Electives.  The Internship is designed to provide students with a full semester work experience in an approved Exercise and Health Science setting.
